Advances in catalyst development, the discovery of new modes of polymerization, and increased process understanding through polymer reaction engineering allow greatly increased control over polymer product molecular architecture. Because ultimate polymer properties are closely related to the polymer chain structure, these research advances allow the development of new polymer products, better quality and uniformity in older polymer products, and more efficient polymerization processes. This talk will review some of these developments for both commodity and specialty materials.
