Once you've decided to embark on a collaborative venture and you have a product ready, you need to decide whether to patent or to keep it a trade secret. How do you decide? If you decide to patent, what is the process? What are the major hurdles to be cleared?
This brief presentation will serve as an overview of the patenting process, as we follow an idea through conception to the patent's grant. This presentation is geared towards scientists with some basic knowledge of the U.S. patent system.
