Advances in Drug Delivery: Biological Barrier Transport

Chair(s)

Lowe, T. L., Penn State University College of Medicine

Co-chair(s)

Berkland, C. J., University of Kansas

This session invites papers that focus on the design and development of novel methods for controlled drug delivery across the biological barriers, such as blood-brain, blood-retinal, intestinal and nasal barriers. These methods can incorporate, for example, nanocarriers, electrical field, magnetic field or ultrasound. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: in vitro and in vivo studies of the effects of the delivery protocol on the integrity of the biological barriers, cellular uptake of nanocarrier/drug complexes, enhanced permeability mechanisms, and bioefficacy of penetrated drugs.
