With the ever-increasing pressures to compete in a global environment the chemical companies are facing insurmountable challenges towards their transition to more agile, flexible and competitive entities. Intelligent information gathering and processing related to all functional tasks, from basic R&D, to manufacturing and production, to transportation is a critical ingredient for growth. Information technologies include all matters concerned with the furtherance of computer science and technology and with the design, development, installation, and implementation of information systems and applications with the ultimate goal of upgrading the information content of operational data across all time and scales of operation. In this session we invite conceptual and practical applications of IT applied to the Chemical Process Industries. Contributions should include modeling approaches, algorithmic developments and computer implementations demonstrating the impact and criticality of IT.
