New ventures promise to provide chemical engineers with an increasing level of alternative career options. In an era of competitive funding resources, university-sourced startups can financially benefit academic institutes whose research often provides the technology being commercialized. Established corporations also look to new ventures as a source of innovation. While new ventures present many opportunities for Academia, Industry, Government, and the workforce, their early-stage needs are particularly demanding with high levels of risk resulting in significant challenges for all participants. Papers in this session will focus on the conception, strategic collaboration, and early stage development of new ventures.
