The emergence of new technologies, particularly in electronics as well as nano and bio-materials fields, is expected to have a profound impact on the process industries in the following decades. These novel, high-tech materials also present a great opportunity for channeling the cutting-edge research capabilities into generation of new markets and industries through process development. As such, development of new processes for these highly specialized products is very desirable not only from a perspective of generalized technological progress, but also for advancing the competitive nature and state of the art for the U.S. industry. This session invites papers that feature manufacturing processes for novel materials such as electronics products, nano-composites and biomaterials. Papers describing available commercialized manufacturing processes, or discussing development and scale-up of processes for commercialization are both welcome.
