Environmental monitoring plays a major role in assessment and then minimization of the harm that chemical processing does to our environment, and thus to ourselves. Sensors for environmental monitoring are the focus of this session. Detection and measurement of various chemical species in gas and liquid phases that have a direct impact on the welfare of the environment are relevant. This includes sensors for determinination of short and long term chemical exposure, and levels of contamination of air and water streams. Sensors in process streams as part of environmentally conscious designs are also a focus.
