(191b) Finesse Intellectual Property Issues in Sponsored Research Agreements

Significant progress has been made recently on the issues that have divided U.S. universities and industrial companies regarding patentable inventions in company-sponsored research agreements. This presentation will briefly summarize the work of a 3-year discussion sponsored by the National Academies, the Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable, the Industrial Research Institute, the National Council of University Research Administrators, the Kaufmann foundation, and several other foundations & companies. It will provide examples of solutions from Dow Chemical's recent experience with some key university partners.
