The surface water and model suspension(kaolin and humic acid) were filtered by Microfilration with backwash. The filtration resistance(Rf and Rb) and streaming potential at both filtration and backwash steps were monitored during filtration. The change in Rf and Rb during the filtration showed that the fouling was the standard blocking type followed by the cake filtration type. The streaming potential reflected the change in the filtration mechanism.
