Wood biomass was clean and renewable energy. In recent study, this wood biomass was used as the raw material of liquefaction for the methanol production or bio-plastic production, instead of agricultural biomass. In the liquefaction, most of wood component, such as cellulose or hemicellulose, was hydrolyzed to the suggers, but some of solid component, mostly lignin, was remained as the insoluble product. Usually, this residue was considered to be used as a solid fuel in combustor, but the characteristic or combustion behavior of the residue in combustor was not evaluated at all. In this study, the residue from the liquefaction process was focused, and the characteristic of residue was evaluated as the solid fuel.
