A simple method for preparing stable dispersion of carbon nanotubes (CNT) for potential application in biosensing and bio-fuel cell is described. Different proteins were used to prepare stable suspensions of CNT in water aided by sonication. The portion of the protein that was not attached to CNT due to the hydrophobic interactions was removed by column chromatography. The CNT- protein dispersion was used as a sole dopant for electrochemical polymerization of polypyrrole film on electrodes. The morphology of the polymer film with and without CNT dopant was found to be different. Such composites can be potentially be applied for biosensor and bio-fuel cell applications.
