Removal and Detection of Emerging Contaminants
Thursday, November 16, 2006 - 1:20pm to 1:45pm
This presentation summarizes and discusses the results of a comprehensive analysis of contamination and decontamination issues related to building plumbing systems. It includes an examination of the interaction of water-borne contaminants with piping, fittings and other components of the water distribution and drainage system for different types of contaminants and substrates. It also addresses methods for detecting the presence of accumulated contaminants, procedures for removing the contaminants, and methods for verifying the effectiveness of the decontamination process. Preliminary recommendations are discussed for developing a response plan to intentional or accidental water system contamination incidents.
