Amphiphilic comb-like polysiloxane (ACPS) containing polyether side chains is presented for modification of PVDF membrane prepared via phase inversion process. The stability of ACPS in phase inversion process, the effects of ACPS on morphology, chemistry structure, crystallinity, mechanical property, hydrophilicity and filtration performance were discussed to extend. It was found that not only the ACPS molecules stay stable in membrane formation process and their side PEG chain enrich on membrane surface, but also these stability and enrichment can be reserved in membrane application process. Via supposing the schematic model, the mechanisms relating to structure and membrane performance are interpreted. From the observed results, it is concluded the ACPS should contribute to the potential candidate materials for high performance filtration membranes.
