Modeling in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Tuesday, November 6, 2007 - 3:30pm to 3:50pm
Pharmaceutical industry has traditionally lagged behind the chemical industry in terms of the use of modeling in process development, control, and optimization. With increased use of process analytical technology (PAT) and increased emphasis on process engineering and optimization, the role of modeling has become more prominent in pharmaceutical process development. The data obtained with on-line or at-line PAT instruments often requires a logical model to interpret it and acquire knowledge from it. This talk will present some of the challenges and opportunities present in pharmaceutical modeling and will provide examples of modeling approaches available.
