The CAPE-OPEN Laboratories Network (CO-LaN) was founded in 2001 by a group of twenty end user organizations, universities and software vendors. In 2007, CO-LaN gathers more than 60 organizations, half of them being software vendors, encompassing the entire spectrum of Computer Aided Process Engineering applications. CO-LaN is working towards its strategic goal of expanding process modeling capability through software interoperability standards. The different missions belonging to this goal will be described and the actual results obtained within each of these missions listed. The means given to achieve these missions will be explained as well as the strategy that CO-LaN will be following in the years to come.
