Placeholder Abstract (to be edited):
In North America over 80% of distillers grains are used in ruminant diets. Historically, less than 1% of total annual production is fed to swine. Recent studies have shown however that the nutrition value of distillers grains is becoming more attractive to swine producers. The dry milling industry produces distillers grains, distillers grains plus solubles, and distillers solubles. When fed at 15% or less of the diet dry matter, distillers grains serve as a source of supplemental protein. When fed at higher levels (greater than 15% of the diet dry matter) the primary role is as a source of energy.
