Sustainable Management Approaches and Revitalization Tools ? electronic (SMARTe), is an open-source, web-based, decision support system being developed by the Office of Research and Development (ORD) in partnership with the Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Revitalization (OBCR), the Interstate Technology Regulatory Council (ITRC) and the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF).

The SMARTe website is intended to allow revitalization stakeholders to evaluate future reuse options for potentially contaminated land. SMARTe contains guidance and analysis tools for all aspects of the revitalization process including planning, environmental, economic, and social concerns.

SMARTe contains information, links, analysis tools, checklists, and case studies to help users overcome obstacles to sustainable site revitalization. It can be found at www.smarte.org and is freely available to the public. SMARTe is intended for all stakeholders with varying levels and types of expertise. This website will be updated as new tools, technologies, and approaches become available for revitalizing previously used lands.
