Catalytic Hydrogen Generation for Fuel Cell Applications I
Thursday, November 8, 2007 - 8:30am to 8:51am
A new Pd-based catalyst deposited on a monolith for methanol steam reforming (MSR) was recently developed at BASF Catalysts LLC within a joint project with Motorola Labs funded by NIST/ATP. This robust catalyst is for generating hydrogen using a microchannel substate for a fuel cell power application that requires (i) high activity and CO2 selectivity; (ii) chemical and mechanical stability against condensing liquid; and (3) high thermal stability. In this presentation, the advantage of this catalyst compared to the commercial Cu-Zn-Al reference subject to a start-stop protocol will be compared. A description of the kinetics of this novel catalyst will also be presented.
