MoVTeNbO is an unique formulation which have shown a good activity on the direct partial oxidation of propane to acrylonitrile or acrylic acid(1-3). Though its noncomparable high yield of the products, to get the credit of the commercially attractable catalyst it should be accomplished by some other groups. Until now it's unclear why this formulation has shown such unstable activity for the partial oxidation of propane. There are two major sub-phases for the optimum catalyst formulation but whats the exact role over the whole reaction path is unclear yet. We tried to prepare Mo-V-Te-Nb-O catalyst by the multi-staged method. By this method, we can control the sub-phases more precisely than the normal synthesis and acquired higher activity.
