Powder mixing is not well understood and has been one of the main problems for the pharmaceutical industry for years. This has had dramatic consequences in limiting the industry from converting to continuous process mixing. This work seeks a more comprehensive understanding of powder mixing properties by attempting to create specific mixtures of lactose-125M and acetaminophen using continuous mixing processes ranging the percent of acetaminophen from 0-9%. The increased knowledge of powder mixing will allow for the development of effective computational models to improve prediction and process performance. Ultimately, this will improve the efficiency of the industry while insuring the welfare of the consumer.
