As computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has gained acceptance as an industrial tool for the chemical process industries, there has been an increasing demand from industry for B.S. chemical engineers with some formal training in using CFD software. Several prominent chemical engineering faculty have led successful projects in developing and disseminating CFD teaching modules for undergraduate chemical engineering education. Unfortunately, the use of CFD teaching modules is only present in a few U.S. chemical engineering departments. The CACHE CFD Task Force is a coalition of academic and industrial CFD researchers and practitioners whose aim is to assist in building the infrastructure necessary to insure that these CFD teaching modules become standard practice in the U.S. chemical engineering undergraduate curriculum.
