Chevron pioneered the all hydroprocessing route for high quality base oil production in 1984. This helped to transform the lubricant base oil market towards higher quality products. Trends in modern lubricant formulation have lead to an increased pressure on Base Oils specifications /performance requirements. This talk will review modern base oil technologies and the continued evolution of Chevron's all hydroprocessing route for high quality base oil production.
