In thermochemical water-splitting hydrogen production IS process, hydriodic acid and sulfuric acid are produced from water, iodine and sulfur dioxide by the so-called Bunsen reaction. An electro-membrane process has been proposed for this reaction to facilitate the separation of hydriodic acid and sulfuric acid. Experimental study on the electro-membrane process using a radiation-grafted polymer electrolyte membrane will be presented.
