Chemical Engineering Education In North, Central, and South America: Latest Developments
Tuesday, November 18, 2008 - 4:05pm to 4:30pm
Traditional chemical engineering is the branch of engineering for the development and application of processes that change materials based on chemistry, physics and mathematics. Chemical engineering continues to evolve with biological sciences and nanotechnology. Emerging nanobiotechnology brings a molecular frontier for chemical engineering. Education and outreach activities in nanobiotechnology at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of University at Albany will be introduced. A few examples to expose K-12 and undergraduate students to nanobiotechnology will be presented. Chemical engineering principles in these engineered nanobiological systems will be identified. A ?top-down? modular approach to train graduate students, undergraduate students and high school students and involve K-12 students in science and engineering will be discussed.
