Using plump stones as a raw material, diverse activated carbons by physical and chemical method were elaborated in order to obtain the flow conditions of nitrogen and/or water vapor, carbonization time and temperature appropiate for a carbon of high adsorption. They were characterized through immersion calorimetry to obtain an initial estimate of their structure, as well as thermogravimetric analysis of the raw material. Finally, BET area tests were carried out on carbons with a high superficial area, obtaining the optimal conditions for their elaboration which will be observed further to study the competitive adsorption of cadmium and zinc.
