Monday, November 17, 2008 - 12:30pm to 3:00pm
The objective of the project is to present a methodology that is able to generate, screen and then identify sustainable alternatives in any chemical process by locating the operational, environmental, economical and safety related bottlenecks inherent in the process. Alternatives that are more sustainable are generated and evaluated by addressing one or more of the above identified) issues. A software program called Sustain-Pro has been developed and where this indicator-based methodology has been implemented. Through two case studies the important features of the methodology and its application for sustainable process design as well as the advantages of using Sustain-Pro, will be highlighted.
