The transport of particles in closed streamline flows is examined through experiments and modeling of the bulk suspension flow. The experiments are performed primarily in a microfluidic environment at small conduit scale Reynolds number. We will report the averaged velocity determined from experiment and compare this with the predictions of the an established suspension flow model. The model is applied to predict the particle transport and compared to experimental results obtained from closed streamline flows formed by flow past an obstacle. The flow behavior at the extensional flow at the leading edge of the obstacle is also studied.
