Experiments for mass transfer of liquid (water) and gas (air) inside microchannels have been conducted under atmospheric pressure while varying the channel hydrophobicity to investigate the effect of surface wettability on the mass transfer rates. The results show that both the flow patterns and the mass transfer rates are dependent on the surface hydrophobicity of the channel. Both chemical and physical methods are used for the mass transfer measurements.
