Breakthroughs in process operations and modelling are necessary to achieve energy and material efficiency gains supporting shorter development and scale up times and improving the environmental, safety and economical profile of chemical processes. Those breakthroughs are made possible thanks in part to the use of process analytical technologies and reactor systems optimally designed for real time in situ process monitoring and accurate process control, both at lab and plant scale. RTCal? is an innovative and patented technology that responds to the needs for an enhanced calorimetry tool providing ease-of-use, real-time heat flow profiles as well as rapid and accurate heat measurements under a broad range of reactions conditions without the need for calibrations or further data manipulation.
Case studies will be presented exploring the use of RTCal? as a process analytical technology tool and as a tool to simulate operating conditions of industrial reactors at lab scale in the RC1, preventing batch failures of exothermic reactions at plant scale.
