(404f) Adsorption Based Hybrid Technology to Recover CO2

A novel adsorption based technology has been developed to recover CO2 from various industrial sources. The technology is suitable for recovering CO2 from gas streams as dilute as 15% CO2. It could be used as a distillation - adsorption hybrid system to recover CO2 at pipeline quality for sequestration or for enhanced oil recovery or to produce beverage grade carbon dioxide. Several application of this technology have been investigated for recovering CO2 from 1) Steam Methane reformers, 2) Oxy - Coal combustion power plants and 3) Flue gas streams. In all the cases, this technology is found to be more cost effective than the current start-of-the art technologies. This paper will cover different hybrid schemes with emphasis on the adsorption technology fundamentals and current status of the technology development.
