Liquid marbles have been shown to be an effective means of storing, transporting and creating barrier to diffusive evaporation. We demonstrate a new mechanism for creating micron and submicron sized nanoparticulate liquid marbles that are mechanically and thermally stable. We show that the mechanism for the creation of such marbles is vapor phase diffusion and condensation and that the liquid marble size distribution as well as the mean marble size can be controlled by the heating time and temperature at which the diffusive process is allowed to occur.
