Abstract

Information about phase equilibria and volumetric properties is essential in thermodynamics for the process design. Experimental data of both properties obtained in the same experiment is not an easy procedure even at high pressure. The simultaneous determination of these data comes more important for a better correlation and prediction.

The aim of this work is to obtain the vapor-liquid equilibria and saturation densities for the carbon dioxide + 1-pentanol mixture from (323 and 423) K. The apparatus is based on the static-circulation method and has been already tested for other alkanols with lower molecular weight [1]. The vapor-liquid equilibrium was measured in a stainless steel cell connected to a gas chromatograph via a ROLSI sampler-injector as previously reported [2]. This cell is connected to a thermoregulated Anton Paar densimeter DMA 512P for measuring the saturation densities carbon dioxide + 1-pentanol mixture.
