The current effort for hot-gas cleaning of advanced coal-fired energy systems is focused on the use of ceramic candle filters due to its high efficiency and capability to operate at high temperatures. The development of experimentally verifiable computer models to simulate the gas flow and particle deposition in the filter vessel is critical for the design of future industrial-scale filtration systems.
This presentation reports our progress on modeling the hot gas flow and particle transport in the Siemens-Westinghouse filter vessel at the Power System Development Facility in Wilsonville, Alabama.
