Accessing Facilities at National Centers, Laboratories, and Synchrotron Radiation Sources
Monday, November 9, 2009 - 8:50am to 9:10am
The Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is one of five Nanoscale Science Research Centers operated by the Office of Science, U.S. Departmen of Energy. The CNMS is a collaborative nanoscience user research facility for the synthesis, characterization, theory/modeling/simulation, and design of nanoscale materials, which provides users with access to a complete suite of nanoscience research capabilities (facilities and expertise) housed in an 80,000-ft2 building adjacent to the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). A brief overview of the capabilities at the CNMS will be given followed by a more in-depth discussion of the Macromolecular Nanomaterials Group. Additionally, access to CNMS facilities, which is determined through a peer-reviewed proposal process, will be detailed.
