Micro and Nanofabricated Sensors. In Honor of CC Liu I
Monday, November 9, 2009 - 12:30pm to 12:55pm
The honoree of this symposium, Professor Chung Chiun Liu, is well known for his contributions and innovations over a career to the field of microfabricated chemical and biochemical sensors. In more recent years he also has made substantial contributions to microfabricated energy storage and conversion devices for battery-replacement and for powering sensor devices, and I will summarize some of Liu's approaches and contributions in this field, including more detailed discussions on our collaboration developing micro-fabricated hydrogen fuel cells. These devices have the decoupled energy/power advantages of fuel cells, the simplicity of batteries, and the high power pulse capabilities of ultracapacitors.
