Energy efficiency is being called the “first choice” for meeting US energy requirements: it can be the cheapest, cleanest, and quickest way to reduce dependence on foreign oil and meet climate change goals. It is good for business, the environment, and society. This session will include an overview of activities being undertaken in the Southeast to implement major energy efficiency programs in the three main end-use energy consuming sectors: industrial, transportation, and buildings. Leading experts will give invited papers on today’s efforts to implement the best energy efficient technologies and concepts, such as zero-energy homes, light weighting vehicles, and new innovations that are required to implement them, such as advancements in energy storage.
