Current interest in block copolymers stems primarily from their ability to self-assemble into complex nanostructures. By exploiting the molecular transitions of fluorescent dyes, in-situ 3D images of block copolymers with nanometric resolution are obtained. Several tagging strategies to achieve the necessary microdomain specific fluorescence contrast will be presented. These are applied to the imaging of morphologies that would be challenging to obtain via currently established characterization techniques such as electron microscopy and scattering based methods, including films that are several microns in thickness.
