(168s) Settling of Non-Spherical Particles in Liquids

The presentation consists of *comparing terminal velocity and drag coefficient data from our experiments with literature correlations/theory for settling under no wall effects. *comparing data collected under strong wall effects with literature eqations. The non-spherical particles used include cubes,cones,ellipsoids,cylinders of different cross-sections and plates.The particle materials are metals,glass and plastics.Several liquids(including CMC solutions)and five glass columns are being used.
