A Carbon Filter Process (CFP) captures CO2 on a carbonaceous sorbent that requires no compression or refrigeration. Such a sorbent is CO2-philic and hence uniquely selective at near ambient temperatures, easy to keep at constant sorption temperature, and easy to regenerate, because its heat of sorption is low. This talk will focus on new data aimed at optimizing sorbent regeneration, for example, direct-steam versus vacuum-swing versus a novel approach developed in this project, namely, a steam-aided-vacuum regeneration. This novel regeneration approach is being scaled-up for pilot tests at two coal-fired power plants in summer 2010.
