Analytical and computational modeling represents, I believe, an area in chemical engineering that has and will continue to become a fundamental aspect of our work. Students at all levels, faculty and industrial partners ever increasingly use and rely upon computational tools in all aspects of their work and my strength and focus in the field is toward the creation, investigation and use of new analytical and computation models and tools appropriate and valuable in our endeavors. My recent research work including the computational modeling of biological systems for tissue engineering as well as other simulation based experimentation including the design and development of a first course in molecular modeling and computational simulation for undergraduates (an elective) represent some of the specific projects in which I have been involved. With my research and strength and focus as a computational analysis / modeler I intend to build a practical (and nationally recognized) research program focused on dynamic data analysis and modeling (which include presently systems analysis for complex processes, and biochemical & thermodynamics modeling) . In these research strengths it is my objective to form mutually beneficial collaborations with colleagues in the department and other departments across campus on grant proposals and research goals.
