(4bs) Systems Engineering for Sustainability

Systems engineering methodologies have a huge role to play in achieving sustainability. In this work, I summarize key findings from my doctoral and post-doctoral research in process synthesis, design, operations, and control, applied to reducing energy consumption, reducing cost, and increasing quality, in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. I identify and describe further lines of research in applying systems engineering methods to achieving sustainability in energy, water, and health systems.
