As part of a systematic study of ionic liquid systems, binary excess molar volumes for the ionic liquid trioctylmethylammonium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide [OMA]+[Tf2N]- and methyl acetate or ethylacetate were determined experimentally from density data at T = (298.15, 303.15 and 313.15) K. The excess molar volumes were calculated from the density data for each binary mixture at each temperature. Virial-Based Mixing Rules (VBMR) were used to fit the experimental densities for the low boiling ionic liquid and the acetates within experimental uncertainty. The interaction parameters obtained from the correlation are presented as a function of temperature, and were used to calculate the partial molar volumes at infinite dilution.
