CAPE-OPEN is a freely available interoperability standards for process simulation software tools. CAPE-OPEN has been developed by end-users for end-users with the support of major software editors and academics active in the Computer Aided Process Engineering field.
Implemented in many commercial and academic software tools, it enables the seamless plugging of 3rd party components in major process simulators. This technology, readily available to the end-user, enables the immediate use of niche software specifically adapted to a given task or problem. It limits the need for proprietary interfacing technology.
Usage of CAPE-OPEN technology will be demonstrated with a number of software tools commonly used in the process industries in order to reproduce what the industrial end-user may be faced with.
