Abstract  With Bis-Nonylphenol Methane and dimethyl carbonate( DMC ) as raw materials, Bis(O-Methyl-Nonylphenol) Methane was prepared at 180°C with K2CO3 as catalyst and Bu4NBr as phase transfer catalyst, both conversion and selectivity were up to 99%. sulfonation with chlorosulfuric acid and neutralization with NaOH aqueous solution, final product was synthesized. Intermediate product and the final product were analysised by IR spectroscopy, 1HMNR spectrometry and MS spectrometry. Surface activity properties were tested, and compared with ordinary surfactants. The surface tension (γcmc) value and the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of the Gemini surfactant aqueous solution were lower, compared with ordinary surfactants, show a good surface activity. It was a newer amphiphiles, newer  structures which can substituted traditional self-assembling components.  At the same time, It has good solubilization capacity, emulsifying capacity and solution stability.
