The particle deposition pattern from a drying sessile droplet was studied computationally using Galerkin finite element. While this subject has been approached from different points of view by a lot of research groups, we focused mainly on being able to predict the deposition pattern from the Pe numbers and Da numbers, which can be estimated once the experimental condition is set. The preliminary results showed that the higher the Pe number and the lower the Da number are, the more likely a “coffee-ring” pattern will form after the liquid phase dries, at the same time the deposition rate will be reduced.  The operational phase diagram between Pe number and Da number was then plotted, in which we can point out the different regions of the deposition patterns. An experiment was also performed to confirm the simulation results.
