(490c) Process Monitoring of An Energetic Material Pilot Plant

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division develops processes for energetic material ingredients and their formulations. The energetic material ingredients are developed using similar protocols utilized by pharma and fine chemical companies. However, the Navy is focused on removing operators from the hazardous environment. The Navy has purchased and currently installing novel reactors and chemical reaction monitoring equipment in order to mitigate hazards to operators while maintaining process control.
