In order to obtain conductive and magnetic polymer nanocomposites (PNCs) (1-4), polyaniline (PANI) nanocomposites reinforced with magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs) have been fabricated using surface-initiated-polymerization (SIP) method. The PANI/Fe3O4 nanocomposites are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The thermal properties of PANI/ Fe3O4 nanocomposites are characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Both Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM) are used to characterize the dispersion of Fe3O4 NPs and the morphology of PANI/ Fe3O4 nanocomposites. The effect of the Fe3O4 NPs on the crystallization behavior of the PANI during polymerization is studied. The electrical conductivity, dielectrical and magnetic properties of these nanocomposites are investigated and will be reported.
