A new green chemical method is reported to synthesize gold nanowires with 2-D network structrue through reducing HAuCl4 by sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). The concentration of CMC controlled the gold nanoparticles growth. TEM image displayed directly that the reduced products were gold nanowires. With a fixed concentration of HAuCl4 of 0.2 mM, as the concentration of CMC was 0.05%, the reaction temperature was 80 oC, there were gold nanowires (with 10 nm wide) formed; as 0.5%, some multipodlike gold nanoparticles with equivalent diameter around 80 nm prepared. Selected electron diffraction suggested that the nanowires with 2-D network structrue were composed by single crystal nanowires. UV-Vis absorption spectrum of gold nanowires showed that there were anisotropic nanostures formed in the reacted solutions. The preferred noble metal nanowires with 2-D network may be obtained easily by this green chemical method.
