A solid amine sorbent, composed of polyethylenimine (PEI) immobilized into a CARiACT® G10 silica substrate, has been studied for potential use as a sorbent in a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process for post-combustion CO2 capture. Based on an extensive study of the behavior of this material over a wide range of industrial relevant conditions using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and subsequent correlation of this data to a non-equilibrium kinetic model, a series of PSA process simuations were carried out. This presentation will discuss the deveopment of the kinetic model and the results from the PSA cycle simulations.
