With the unifying theme “Chemistry—our life, our future,” the goals of the International Year of Chemistry 2011 are to increase public appreciation of chemistry in meeting world needs, to encourage interest in chemistry and chemical engineering among young people, to generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry, and to celebrate the contributions of women to chemistry and chemical engineering.
